The BURDEN
Much like the Samurai of old,
it is the duty of a Senpai is to serve. Their honor to acquire, preserve, and perpetuate our arts and traditions.
Their responsibility to promote the highest ideals of Heiwa-do karate.
By virtue of these duties and
responsibilities, Teaching Senpai are granted greater authority than would otherwise be accorded them by rank alone.
Their very purpose is to insure the growth of Heiwa-do Karate, and to build and maintain the Honor of their
Dojo.
Within their ranks, the Senpai maintain
the following hierarchy.
Senior Assistant Instructor
(SAI)
18+ years
Black Belt
Assistant Instructor
(AI)
16+ years
3rd kyu brown belt or higher
Teaching Assistant
(TA)
15+ years or older
6th kyu ~ green belt
or higher
Junior Leader
(JL or JS)
under 15 years old
5th kyu ~ blue belt or higher
These designations are assigned to recognize authority and promote order within the dojo. Incidents
of novice level teaching assistants or junior leaders misrepresenting themselves as instructors or teachers, or of possessing
undocumented, or unverifiable proficiency in other disciplines for the purposes of self-aggrandizement, have been and
will continue to be dealt with severly.
Our purpose is,
"Not to conquer others, but to conquer the weaknesses
within ourselves."
